Why does everyone on this subreddit worship 70’s cornball pop rock like its Dostoyevsky or some shit

Every thread is people getting super pretentious about artists that really are quite entry level with mass appeal in the grand scheme of things like Rush or Van Halen while acting like ur an idiot for liking hip hop or electronic music. There’s nothing wrong with enjoying lower brow acts like the aforementioned but it is honestly asinine seeing how pretentious ppl get about bands like Yes or Kansas which are like the musical equivalent of the MCU or a brian sanderson novel or some shit. Even when people aren’t being directly elitist about lame 70’s prog bands that take 8 minutes and hundreds of chords to articulate a musical idea that would take an indie singer songwriter type 2 chords and a single chorus— every thread is still an overwhelming circle jerk where people act like no other genre exists or is worthwhile outside of the one where a the quality of a song is directly judged by the lead guitarists bbps (boomer bends per second). If y’all are gonna be this elitist, at least be in to like Stockhausen or Merzbow or some shit that deserves it.
