Flood zone houses

My wife and I were looking for a house to buy 2020 and 2021. The first house that we saw in Little falls, I fell in love with it. We put a bid but we got outbid like always. Throughout year 2020 we kept getting outbid. 2021, we saw a house in woodland park (flood zone). My wife and I at the time, were getting desperate to buy a house so we put a bid. The owners had told us at the time, they haven't gotten water in the basement since Irene. I was like wow that has been a long time. Luckily for us, the owners went with a bigger down payment. Up to this day, I tell my wife we got lucky we didn't get that house in woodland park with all flooding we been having lately. I made this post just to advise people be careful when looking for a house in a flood area.
