Airtel not accepting international VISA/AMEX in US

I want to recharge my moms phone (airtel number) as she is with me for a few months in US. I tried using my Visa/Amex but I keep getting error "something went wrong...". It used to work last year if I remember it right. Any help would be appreciated.
