[Baseball Series Thread] #1 Tennessee (20-1) vs. #10 Alabama (21-1)

  • Game 1: Thursday, March 20 – 7:30 p.m. ET (ESPNU) Dave Neal (PxP) and Lance Cormier (analyst)
  • Game 2: Friday, March 21 – 7 p.m. ET (SEC Network+) Noah Reed (PxP) and Cormier (analyst)
  • Game 3: Saturday, March 22 – 2 p.m. ET (SEC Network+) Noah Reed (PxP) and Cormier (analyst)

Tennessee travels to Tuscaloosa for a big SEC matchup after dropping its first game on Tuesday. The turnaround is quick, and that plays into Tennessee's favor, as it allows them to wash the ETSU game a day sooner.

Alabama is very good. SS Justin Lebron is a phenomenal player; some speculate he'll be the #1 pick in 2026. Will Hodo is a dangerous bashing DH. Jason Torres and Kade Snell can both do damage with the bat.

They'll throw Zane Adams (3.00 ERA), Riley Quick (1.33 ERA), and Bobbly Alcock (3.60 ERA). All the numbers are good. They don't overpower guys but mostly throw strikes and play good defense. Evergreen, but our guys will need to sit back and not swing at every first pitch. I'm particularly interested in Friday's matchup against Quick. His numbers are good, but his BABIP allowed is .196 (abnormally low), and his FIP is 4.09. He's got the second-lowest ERA on the team but the second-highest FIP. That tells me his defense plays phenomenally behind him, and he's good at inducing weak contact. If we barrel him up, we may be able to chase him earlier than he's shown so far this season.

Gavin Kilen is OUT again tonight but did make the trip
