Amazon screwed me out of my new build but my local tech shop bailed me out with a nicer upgrade

Recently I decided to build a new pc because I wanted to play marvel rivals and tarkov at higher settings and at 1440p and to give my old one to my younger brother so he can play rust and r6s with his friends. I researched the parts and went to Amazon with my budget of roughly $1200 US and got the parts swiftly with the exception of my graphics card which I originally spec'd to be a Radeon 7800xt which had an expected delivery date of 2 weeks past everything else but I was like "hey I'm a patient man I can wait and little longer" while checking my phone everyday for updates.

However on the day of expected delivery it never showed instead showing another date of expected delivery. I was slightly annoyed but found it alright and waited another week. When it didn't show up again showing a new date I decide to cancel it when it showed that it had already been canceled and my money returned

While not getting into my personal finances I did eventually notice it was refunded a week ago yet Amazon still showed it as ordered (not yet shipped) and no email saying it was refunded.

So with just a week before the 30 day return window and a bunch of parts I decided to call my friend to come help me out and build the pc when I get off work from my overnight shift so we can get started early morning and when best buy opens I'd start calling the various locations to ask what they had in stock. We got building and at around 10am I had an idea. Why not Google local stores and call them first? Maybe they have the exact gpu i wanted at a possible lower price than best buy? So after a quick Google search in the maps app and ignoring whatever the first result was I found the location and phone number of one smart parts pc.

I called while my friend cable manged and asked if they had a 7800xt and they said no unfunfortunately but they were expecting a shipment of new amd gpus coming in at noon.i asked what gpus and he replied 9070xt's. A little apprehensive about the pricing I've seen online I asked the price.

"We got 5 coming in and we're selling them at MSRP"

My friends and I jaws dropped and stuttering in shock I asked if he could reserve one for me with with my friend jumping like a baboon wanting one too. After confirming our names and later calling to check if they came in i got my brand new 9070xt at msrp near the pricing I would have gotten for the 7800xt.

Still thinking we were both dreaming we raced back home and opened what might as well been the holy grail itself. An actual behemoth of a gpu we realized I might have to return it giving i was going to a smaller micro atx form factor. But delicately balancing the pc of an open cardboard box and uninstalling the cpu fan/cooler, rotating the gpu I managed to get it in and installed.

After a brief losing fight with Microsoft we got windows installed, cable managed, and set up my new pc. We were tired but satisfied. I was going to take my friend out for a meal to show thanks but he was sleepy and as was I now being up for 23 hours. I quickly delivered my old pc to my little brother and set him up while I was still awake enough to drive and went back home installing all my games as I went to sleep.

Bit of a long story but just wanted to share it as a little PSA to double check your Amazon orders and maybe check your local stores first. Looking around he had some awesome deals on pre-builts and 3080's
