What advice would you give to someone starting fresh financially?

I’ve (25F) gone down a rabbit hole of finance advice, started a job recently at a wealth management firm, and have absorbed what people already in good financial standing do for themselves but that lead me to question:

What about those with not great credit, little to no savings, and no assets? What’s the first step to getting in the right path?

For me personally, I am similar to this boat. I cannot get a credit card, my bills are paid well and I don’t live above my means. No car in my name or other assets in my name but I would like to start making efforts to getting myself in a better financial situation down the line. I didn’t grow up with financial literacy being paramount and I’m wanting to make positive changes even if they’re small changes!

What checking accounts are best? Savings account to start with when you don’t have a lump sum to put into it? Investing? Etc, etc. I feel like in alot of this advice floating around the internet, those without are left out of a way to even get on a good path.
