How many people here can’t afford to eat?

I know this sub focuses on those in poverty. But at least in America poverty seems to be changing its face when I was younger in the late 80s early 90s the common theme was single mom poor. Living on a shoestring budget but making it. The Simpsons even family guy are all TV shows with a primary earner and a family living on a shoestring budget but not starving to death. I’ve been lurking on this sub for a while, it really scares me how many people are starving in the US. This seems to be backed up by statistics that food bank usage is off the charts post Covid.

Personally, I’m not struggling like I used to anymore but I’m always afraid of going back to that place one of the things about being middle-class/wealthy is people assume that if you get to a place where you’re stable everything’s fine. I’m starting to fear that society’s gonna break down because people can’t afford to survive, despite having plenty of money in the bank personally this fear has been keeping me up at night. When you have no Safetynet, sometimes it feels like you just have further to fall no matter how high you climb you’re never free I could have $10 million tomorrow and I don’t know if I would ever feel safe.
