Why doesn't anyone talk about how much easier it it is to go to college if you're rich?
Not even rich. If you aren't poor as dirt, college seems a lot easier. Sadly, I'm the latter.
Other girls complain about them not getting financial aid because their parents own 3 houses, and of course, I have sympathy. But I'm working through college, not for tuition, but because my mom will die if she has to work 80 hours a week to keep my dad and little brother alive.
Do you know how much easier it is to go to class and submit coursework on time when you aren't working at an understaffed CVS every other night from 2PM - 10? When every dollar I send my parents means one less meal I can eat myself? My laptop barely even fucking works, I need to do my assignments at the library every day. Procrastinating? As if. If I can't get it done by 2PM, it doesn't get done.
And no, don't mention uni resources. I go on a near full ride to a larger public school, there's no support otherwise. They don't even cover the meal plan fully, so I've decided eating potatoes and chicken is cheaper than their "discounted" rate. Had to beg for the housing office to even let me not have a meal plan while I'm on campus.
The only support they have is an overcrowded health center where 30 onlookers can watch as I stuff tampons into my backpack. The cheapest, shittiest tampons you can imagine. (please no comments about cups, they don't work for me sadly.
Rant over. Sorry.
