The Architect’s Details on our new stadium
Some highlights:
Architects want to make it as steep as possible within current regulations (35 degrees, which is the maximum allowed in the UK)
They want to bring everyone as close as possible to the pitch
It is a football first venue, and so architects have decided not to look at a retractable pitch (this differs considerably from Spurs and Real Madrid)
‘We are not looking to make this look like a big shopping mall. This is very much a football stadium’
Brick and Steel will be used in the build to ‘keep the soul’ of the original Old Trafford
No plans to have hospitality in the Stretford End
Bringing the Munich clock along a ‘non negotiable’. Still figuring out how to integrate it among with the trinity statue.
Idea to use part of the old ground as part of the route to the new stadium
Continued willingness to consult with fans and the local community
