Why have kids if their life will be harder than mine?
Looking at kids just 10-15 years younger than me, their life just seems so much harder.
It seems like younger kids in highschool are far more anxious about success/getting into a good school. And why shouldn't they be? They need a viable path to a "good job" (while they still exist) so that they can live out a fraction of the American dream.
Not to mention housing affordability will only get worse. Maybe the rate at which it gets worse will slow but it seems unlikely that it will get better within a generation of two.
The tendency of the rate of profit to fall means that the business will turn the screws on us more and more. White collar professionals will not be exempt.
This is of course without getting into climate change, which I'm personally pretty blackpilled on. I still try and do my part (take transit, low meat diet, compost, etc) but only as some kind of soul cleansing ritual.
But then I think, people had kids though the wars, famine, and disaster and it seems to have mostly worked out. But they didn't really have widespread birth control then either so that wasn't exactly a choice.
Would I still want to be alive if my life was 25% worse? Yeah probably. But what about 50%? 80?
What is to be done?
