Thoughts on LeBron?
The guy's a legend, unquestionable. Either GOAT or co-GOAT or second-best depending on your persuasion.
But he's also weirdly divisive in a way that I don't get the impression that any other GOAT-type player ever was. Like when he dies, I don't think he'll get anything close to the outpouring that Kobe did despite LeBron being clearly a much better player and never raping anyone as far as we know. At least not ever letting it be public (so trashy).
Is it just the switching teams? Is it the WWE-ification of the NBA coinciding with his career? Is it his weird relationship with the media?
Like literally what is it? I'll admit the guy isn't quite "likeable." But, I really do not get the vitriol. And what's interesting is I hear it the most vociferously from west coast people. Lakers fans and Warriors fans (of which there are way too many of both) will pick apart every little thing to tear him down. Whereas even his most punished east coast rivals will hate him in a competitive sense, but always praise his game. Particularly in those lean years in the first Cleveland stint.
For me, the worst thing I can sling at him is that he's boring and corny and probably shouldn't ever comment on political issues. Outside of that, I'm kind of in awe of what he's done.
