Question about Remnant 2

Uhh so, my friend and I are playing out first campaign and he somehow got some prism. That's all new for me so I'm not sure which one was it or how he got it. My question is: aren't those items supposed to share to both of us? Or are prisms more like ammo where only those who pick it up get it?
