Can we talk about Hanover tomatoes?
What a marketing ploy.
My husband and I are farmers, there is no such thing as a Hanover tomato. There is no variety called a Hanover tomato, they only (supposedly) grow in Hanover county. People in this region won't buy other farmer's tomotos if they aren't Hanover tomatoes. Yet there is no difference in the actual tomato.
I've seen posts where people are searching out which grocery stores have Hanover tomatoes. Why aren't grocery stores buying from all farmers in the region? Because "Hanover tomatoes" have a cult following and they can charge more.
Moral of the story, a Hanover Tomato is no different than any other tomato grown in the region. Support all farmer in the region!
