Quitting my job?

As the title suggests, I want to upgrade and expand my skills. Currently a creative designer, mainly dealing with printed/traditional mediums. I want to transition to become a UX designer as I think the industry and growth potential is greater, although I know competition is stiffer as well.

My current job workload is unpredictable, and more often than not, I need to OT. This prevents me from taking part-time, foundational UX courses (3-months).

My dilemna is: should i quit my current job and devote my time to transitioning into my next role? Based on feedback from peers who have done similar, their transition took 4-6 months.

I am not sure if I am prepared financially for this period: -My monthly DCA will take a pause.

-I have 3-months of expenses saved, and am disciplined to not draw from my investments during this period.

-I am also prepared to take on freelance jobs, although this will at most cover 30% of my current income.

-I have no dependents, BTO is about 5 years away.

Tldr; I want to go unemployed for up to 6 months to upskill, is it worth it?
