Are that many skis sold every year?
Been a skier for a long time. Took a bit of a break (15 years) since I’ve done more than a day trip to a place like big bear. Been renting and just decided it’s time for buy a set (hopefully my last) of skis. Back when I last bought skis there was a lot less variety. At least a lot less that was “mainstream”. You had a gs, a slalom, a mogul or a beginner ski. I think the lengths were in 5 or 10 cm increments. Unless you were racing - you had 1 set of skis.
Now you have manufacturers with 20 different models with some of them coming in different widths and/or a carbon or titanium.
I was in winter park last week on Thursday and Friday. Most people on the mountain were my age (51) or older. Very few were charging the moguls or hitting anything black or double.
Who is buying all of these skis?
