Pyro salvage missions

I've been trying to get construction materials in Pyro for supply or die so I went out in my vulture and did some salvage missions.

In Stanton if I did the small 1k missions it would promote me to a larger target, but I did like 3 of the 1k missions and it doesn't give me any larger ships.

I'm only getting 2 SCU for each of these missions, what am I doing wrong? Do I need to salvage the RMC before the mission classifies as 'complete' or am I better going back to Stanton?
