Help with Picking Class for imperial agent

Hi All,

I'm brand new to Swtor and wanted to ask if I should go either operative or sniper.

what is the most needed in the game? I'm a new player transitioning from world of warcraft where I played as restoration shaman and holy priest.

I really enjoy healing and dps, and wanted to know If should go either sniper or operative. what would be best? Please feel free to link guides here for me to look at, and info on builds that are currently good. As I am currently stuck on where to begin.
