System shock ps5 can't use hardware Please Help

I have 3 different hardware that all say deactivated. I just got the shield and I can't figure out how to use them. Please some help me I losing my mind trying to figure it out. It's says r1 to use them but I press it and nothing, try to equip it and it does do anything. I so confused and frustrated.
