Hey r/teenagers! I’m Chris—Ask Me Anything About Safe relationships, Abuse, Privacy, Staying Safe Online, and more!
Hi everyone! I’m Chris, director of Operation Safe Escape. We’re a nonprofit org that helps survivors of abuse and human trafficking, focusing on helping then get safe, stay safe, and feel safe. This can include anything from escape planning, how to get help, check for monitoring software on phones, checking if you've been hacked by a partner (and what to do if you have), and much more.
It’s not easy to talk about, but millions of teenagers are directly affected by abuse at home every year. And millions more are affected by dating violence every year, with as many as 1 in 3 will be directly impacted by dating abuse before 18. Those are people in your school, workplace, community, and online spaces. So if you need help, know that you’re not alone.
This is a judgment-free zone, and no question is too small or too big. Whether you need advice, are curious about advocacy work, or just want to learn, I’m here to help. You can comment your questions below, and I’ll do my best to respond! I’ll answer any questions I can, here’s a few topics for some examples:
- How to recognize abuse in relationships or at home
- What to do if a friend is in an unsafe situations
- Ways to get help safely
- Protecting your privacy, checking for tracking tools on your phone, and staying safe online
If you don’t feel safe or comfortable asking a question publicly, feel free to DM or contact us at info@safeescape.org.
Looking forward to the conversation—ask me anything!
**Edit: Okay, I'm gonna step away from my computer now, but not from the account. If you ask a question here between now and the end of time, I will answer. And if you don't want to ask here, you can DM me. Chat... maybe not as much. I miss those most times. And if you or anyone else you know needs help, you can always reach out to info@safeescape.org. Thanks for all the great questions!"
