The scooters on the sidewalks suck so bad

I mostly enjoyed my trip to Guangzhou and Changsha. All the scooters driving on the sidewalks were initially annoying then became dangerous. What was mildly infuriating almost turned into a physical confrontation. I was walking with my mom and to avoid a scooter approaching us on our left, we sidestepped to the right. That’s when a guy almost ran into my mom and started scolding us to watch out. My mom was quick to respond “yeah, it’s hard to see behind me when I don’t have eyes in the back of my head…”. He continued to scold as he were in the right by riding his scooter on the sidewalk and expecting us to ensure he had a smooth ride. Of all the annoyances, scooters on sidewalks stuck out.
