Problems with alimentation during ultra trail races
Hi everyone,
I'm having problems with alimentation since forever. Now it has been a year that I'm trying different amounts/brands without any luck.
In the last race I took one gel (20 g carbs) every 25 minutes (mainly Maurten which are supposed to be the most easy to digest), sipping water here and there. After 2 hours I start feeling not good, so I cut the gels and skipped one/two. After 3 hours my body was in total pain, especially at the lower back. Stopped the gels, but after a while I felt sleepy and without energy.
I really don't know what else to try, anything that I take I cannot digest (last year I just had 2 peanuts and 1 square of chocolate and it messed me up for the next 1 hour). If I eat by body shuts down, if I don't eat, I have no energy.
I have a big race this summer and I cannot do it without eating during the trail.
What else can I try or should I do?
