My opponent surrenders. I lose.

So my opponent throws in the towel. There is an animation of them throwing in the towel. I win. I get my hand raised. There is an animation of me getting my hand raised. I see the ranked progression...my rank decreases. I look at my record...I have an additional loss. Wtf. Why do I get punished for winning?
