IFE with Bluetooth

The flight after buying one of the personal Bluetooth “field” (I think it’s called an ifly), generators for my Bose headset, my flight had an IFE with a Bluetooth connector built in. How common is this about to be and did I waste my $30? I fly both domestic and international to Europe frequently for work. However, it’s unfortunately not always on United.
