Car-centric infrastructure is great

I see a lot of hate for suburbs and car-centric infrastructure on social media, but I actually think it's pretty great. I like the quiet and serenity of the suburbs. I like having an entire house and yard to myself. I'm fine with driving to the store every time I need something. Never understood why so many people on this site make such a big fuss out of that. It's not that hard to do. In fact, it's a lot easier than walking and having to carry shit.

Because America has such a great road network, I can get in my car and go where I want on my own terms. I don't have to wait for a bus, ride share, or train. If I change my mind about where to go mid-way through the trip, no problem. If I want to carry large items, no problem. One night last summer, I noticed that the sky was clear and moonless, so I decided it was a great opportunity to stargaze. I put my telescope in the trunk of my car and headed to a very remote location in a large forest about two hours from my home. Could you imagine having to use public transport for this?

Walkability is overrated and car-centric infrastructure is awesome. I hope we keep designing our cities for cars and building sparse suburbs. I don't want to be crammed into a dense city like a sardine, as most of this site seems to want.
