UIUC vs UMich: Computer Engineering

(Posted to both UMich and UIUC subreddits) Hey guys, so I got into both UMich’s college of engineering and UIUC for computer engineering early and I’m having some difficulty deciding where to go. I’ve visited both and love both campuses in general which makes this such a hard decision! I’m in-state for UIUC (from Chicago) but I received great financial aid/merit packages from both so cost is a non factor.

Here’s some of the other main criteria I’m considering:

• Black (and more specifically, black engineering) student experience: student organizations, community in general, will I feel supported as a student there?
• Career prospects: I’m planning to concentrate in ML/robotics wherever I go with a focus on autonomous vehicles. While both schools are excellent for this, which one has the edge when it comes to the alumni network, internships, and research opportunities for students on campus?

It’s basically just those two for me, but if there’s anything else you think I should consider when choosing feel free to share. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
