Mom had took weed and had the weirdest experience. Can anyone explain?

So when my mom was around 18 years old, she used to smoke weed occasionally. Each time everything was fine and just laughed and got hungry. But one time she tried eating a brownie.

Worst trip ever, only bad trip actually. She felt like everything was sticking onto her skin, she panicked and told grandma/her mom. And then everything felt incredibly slow. For example she would see a freeze frame of my grandma and then everything would speed up again.

Now some people say it was laced, but the thing is other people had never complained about the seller or the edibles. It was only her.

Some time later, she tried it again by smoking, from a completely different source by the way. And she felt the exact same. Months after, my mom was traumatized AND pregnant with me. She felt the exact same but was not high at all!! And all three times it lasted way more than 24 hours. Even when she wasn't high.

Can anyone help solve the mystery?
