Daycare viruses - when is enough enough?
Hi, everyone. I’m writing to you from my bed, where I’m sick with a fever for the fourth time in three months since my eight month old began daycare, two days per week.
In those three months, we’ve had:
Norovirus, Influenza B, sinus infection, another stomach bug
My daycare is mad that I opted out of summer care (I’m a teacher and will be home with my baby). I just can’t continue being constantly sick. I have lupus and am immunocompromised as a result. Illnesses hit me hard and take longer to recover from.
Have any of you stopped doing daycare because of the constant sickness?
On a side note - when I had norovirus, the urgent care doctor mansplained to me that I need to “be sure to wash my hands.” Yep, thanks for the advice. That definitely was the problem and not the fact that my child vomited directly onto my face.
