Government Employee. About to get RIF’ed. Advice needed.
I hope everyone is all well. I’m a federal government employee. Worked here little over 2 years. I love my team and my agency’s mission. I really thought that I would retire here. Everyone here is very honest, hard working, and reliable. However, due to the current circumstances, I will be let go. This really feels like stabbing my heart because I really love people here and work I do impacts our people. I’m desperate to comeback to this agency later in my life. I might not be able to, but I will put all of my efforts.
Now, I need to decide which way will be the best way to comeback to federal government. Would it be better if I work as an accountant for small to mid-size private firm? Or find auditor position at public accounting firm? Are there any better path you recommend?
I have about 1 year of big 4 experience prior to this federal government agency.
Any advice would help. Thank you, and I truly wish you have a wonderful day.
