Dogs playing together advice
I have 2 dogs a 4 year old boy beagle mix and a 2/3 year old female pitbull mix. The beagle loves to shred toys to the point where there is no stuffing, squeaker, or anything inside the toy. Then toss around the remaining outside and play tug of war. Because we got tired of cleaning up stuffing all the time we’ve resorted to toys that don’t shred but he can still chew and play tug of war with. Now the pit bull is a fairly recent addition to the house it hasn’t been a year yet. She loves to just chew on the toys and snuggle with them. Specifically small soft toys with squeakers or a ball that squeaks.
The problem is the pit bull wants to just chew on her toys in peace meanwhile the beagle wants to take it, play tug of war and destroy the insides of the toys. He always finds a way to get her toys and destroy them. Even when he was a billion other things to play with he wants whatever toy she has. He will sit and watch her play and wait for a moment to jump in. Theyll play together and she’s fine with it but whenever she wants to just chew in peace she will try to block him or something but it doesn’t always work.
I’ve tried everything, I intervene and stop them from playing and will give them their own toys. Sometimes I even separate them so they can play with their own toys and I also make sure to give the beagle play time with him playing tug of war so he can get that energy out. But it’s literally never enough and I’m unsure of what to do. Any advice?
