I genuinely think Hasan is dangerous.
I saw a post here the other day saying that people should focus on conservatives rather than "progressives" like Hasan, and I was reminded of Jim Jones and the infamous Peoples Temple, which was a socialist cult that was very progressive and attracted people of many diverse backgrounds and contributed to many progressive causes at the time.
As well-intentioned the group was, their leader was a power-hungry psychopath who would lie and terrorize his followers through the escalation of loyalty tests like telling them they'd been poisoned, beating those who disobeyed, and exploiting women sexually. They had internal newspapers that would publish paranoid propaganda and frame critics as evil threats (hello reddit? hello discord?). Jim Jones also had a habit of spouting paranoid ramblings through his loudspeaker on the Jonestown grounds day and night (hello twitch?). Jones kept moving the church and further isolating its most dedicated members until their commune in Guyana was finally investigated.
Jones' most loyal members of Jonestown killed investigating officials at his command. Many high-ranking followers also killed themselves and their children in the name of this doomsday cult. Lastly, Jim Jones compelled hundreds of people and their children to drink cyanide, and those who resisted were forcibly injected and killed as well.
Not to be complete tinfoil hat, but I feel like people don't take Hasan's threatening behaviour seriously enough. He's threatened public officials multiple times. He was walking around with a gun on his first stream back. Dude is fucking creepy and weird.
Just sayin, watch out for ol' Jonestown Piker. And if something happens, I called it.
