Friendly reminder that housing as a means of profit is inherently theft

Lots of discussion regarding landlord/tenant relationships lately in this sub, so it’s important to understand WHY that relationship is so bitter.

In the grand scheme of things it boils down to the fact that there’s a large sentiment that housing shouldn’t be something to make profit from. Landlords take someone’s potential home from the market just to rent it out so they can both immediately profit from their existence and then end up owning the land in the same breath.

Tenants are often paying rents higher than the mortgage they would have on the same unit they live in. How could they not feel bitter about the situation?
