Regarding Taystees trial

Something I never understood was why didn’t they try to use the self defense angle for Taystee when their was video evidence of Piscatella breaking Alex’s arm and kidnapping other inmates that very same morning he died? Maybe because that would mean Taystee would have to confess to something she didn’t do but i don’t know I feel like the video could’ve helped her to get a smaller sentence and not life. I’m surprised the video was dropped so quickly and nothing really came of it. A male guard literally kidnapped female inmates tied them up and seriously injured them but because he died while doing that everyone forgot? Plus red was literally scalped by him. How was none of that brought up? I get so upset when I think of how more should’ve been done for Taystee
