Can you be a bit more specific about how and where the lidocaine was used? Also, what characteristics of the airway exam led to choosing an awake fiberoptic intubation?

Just lidocaine mouthwash with 4% lidocaine prior to moving her from the stretched to the OR bed. Then squirted 5 cc of that lidocaine again via the fiberoptic once the vocal cords were visualized after a couple attempts to intubate later since patient refused to tolerate. Overall the visualization with the fiberoptics was pretty great and our main problem was inserting the tube.
