does retainers stop facial forward growth and make me look ugly?

If you stop wearing your retainer your teeth will regress back to how they used to look but you will make more gains through mewing but with a retainer it makes it hard to make any progress at all through mewing. When I was wearing my retainer I made very little progress so I stopped wearing them to make more progress. It's a trade off you gotta ask yourself if you're willing to take.

When I had braces on my upper teeth, I practiced mewing alongside. I was supposed to get braces on my lower teeth about five months later, but due to my finals, that didn't happen. Now that I'm heading to college and have removed my braces, I've noticed significant improvements in my lower teeth without braces. Should I rely on these changes or continue wearing retainers? I've also heard that wearing retainers could lead to jaw recession and hinder forward growth. pls im so confused lol.
