Maybe you could answer this...when will the populace stop supporting/allowing/tolerating autocrats? It seems for centuries Russia is an unending stream of autocratic leaders that are brutal to the citizens and the neighbors.

Honestly, you can’t just snap your fingers and replace one leader with another. You need someone people can rally around—someone with enough popularity, a clear policy direction, actual goals, and, of course, the funding and support to run a serious campaign. Sadly, we haven’t had anyone like that for a long time. Starting around 2012 and especially after 2022, all the prominent politicians who could’ve challenged the current regime got purged. Some were simply bought off with cushy positions if they stayed loyal (which is super common), some were jailed (like Sergei Furgal), and some were murdered (like Boris Nemtsov).
